Shabby Chic

This late 20th Century home desperately needed an update, but the client wanted the home to recall an even earlier era, though with all the modern touches. Keeping only the Wolf range and the refrigerator, the kitchen was redesigned and opened up to include a family room. New farmhouse style cabinetry with traditional drawer pulls and glass fronted upper cabinet doors recall a simpler time, but the black granite countertops create a sleek modern look. The glass fronted book cases and lead mullioned windows in the family room complement the kitchen. New wood flooring throughout also ties the rooms together. The timeless black and white color scheme extends to the photographs chosen for the walls while the color of the comfortable leather chairs anchors them to the floor.
